Porcelain Veneers
in Coeur d’Alene & Post Falls, ID

Any time you see a celebrity with a flawless, Hollywood smile, it’s very likely that they achieved their look using veneers. Veneers are thin shells that are usually made of a durable, tooth-colored material like porcelain, and they are adhered to the front of the teeth to instantly enhance their cosmetic appearance. If that sounds like a cosmetic dental treatment that you would be interested in, feel free to contact our office and schedule a convenient consultation with our team!

What are veneers used for?

Veneers can be used to restore one or two front teeth or for a complete smile makeover. While dental crowns are often used to protect and enhance the appearance of back teeth, veneers can be customized to the patients’ exact specifications and blend in naturally with the other teeth, making them a great choice for the teeth that show when you smile. Veneers can also cover all of the front teeth and make them all appear whiter, straighter, and more symmetrical, helping patients achieve their perfect smile.

Are veneers permanent?

Traditional porcelain veneers require some of the tooth enamel to be removed before they can be placed so that each veneer can fit nicely and won’t look bulky. Tooth enamel protects teeth from tooth decay and harmful bacteria, so once this protective layer is removed, the teeth must be covered by veneers or another restoration. We will show you a preview of your teeth so you can see what they will look like before the treatment takes place, and we will work with you to ensure that you love your new smile and won’t want to go back!

Do veneers make your teeth sensitive?

When your teeth are being prepped for veneers, you shouldn’t feel any sensitivity or pain, as a local anesthetic is always used to completely numb the teeth and gums beforehand. Once your temporary veneers are placed and the anesthetic wears off, you may feel increased sensitivity for a few days, but it should be easily taken care of by over-the-counter pain medication. After the permanent veneers are placed, you will probably feel less sensitivity than you did with natural teeth, as veneers tend to protect teeth from sensitivity.
