What is aftercare like for a dental extraction?

After you have a tooth removed, we recommend taking it easy for a few days and avoiding strenuous activities. Too much activity can cause the blood clot in the socket to come loose, which can cause a painful complication called a dry socket. Before your appointment, you should stock up on soft foods that require very little to no chewing, like yogurt, applesauce, and mashed potatoes, as well as pain medication and an ice pack.
