What are the benefits of dental bridges?

Dental bridges offer many benefits. Patients tend to love dental bridges because they:

  • Are Minimally Invasive and Cost Effective
  • Come With Virtually No Recovery Time
  • Evenly Distribute the Force of the Bite
  • Have No Food Restrictions
  • Help Prevent Nearby Teeth From Shifting

Is it painful to have a dental bridge placed?

Placing a dental bridge is a painless process, as the first thing our team will do is use a local anesthetic to completely numb your teeth and gums. Next, the abutment teeth, or the teeth that will be covered by the bridge, are reshaped so that the bridge can fit over them properly without looking or feeling bulky. Once this is done, we will take impressions of the teeth and send them to the lab so your custom bridge can be designed. The next visit involves removing the temporary bridge, placing the permanent bridge, and making any necessary adjustments.

Is a dental bridge better than a dental implant?

Neither restoration is better or worse than the other, they are just used for different reasons. For example, some patients cannot have dental implants placed because they lack the jawbone density required for an implant. In other cases, patients do not want to undergo oral surgery and prefer dental bridges as a faster and simpler alternative. Patients choose to go with dental implants over bridges sometimes because they like the durability that implants offer. Not sure which one to pick? Feel free to schedule a consultation with our office.
